Critics Say...

David Ng, The Los Angeles Times:

  • "This finely acted production succeeds at creating a pleasantly tipsy experience as it merrily toys with the fluidity of identity."
  • "As You Like It isn't an easy comedy to embrace for either the audience or the cast. Aquila's superb production makes the challenge feel worthwhile and exceptionally rewarding."

Evan Henerson, The Los Angeles Examiner:

  • "For this remarkable and rather bare bones As You Like It, The New York University-based [Aquila Theatre] doubles (and triples) roles in ways rarely attempted."
  • "One might find more lush or opulent As You Like Its, but good luck finding a production more transporting."

    James Taylor, Theatre Talk (KCRW):

  • "Aquila's version [...] is a revelation in both its modestly and its genuine ability to please."
  • "This As You Like It is one of the best outdoor Shakespeare productions LA has seen in a while."

*Wait, what happened to Romeo & Juliet?

In an effort to both extend our Mainstage programming beyond summer months and better serve the school districts on our area, SF/LA has decided to postpone Chris Anthony's production of Romeo & Juliet until Spring of 2010.

We actually have more exciting developments up our sleeves, but until then, make sure to join us for Aquila's world-class touring production of As You Like It this July!
